This is the second time I have had a negative experience with the same cashier, Sofie R., while requesting a Price Match.
I want to make it clear that my issue is not with the store's policy. I fully understand that there are rules and requirements to qualify for a Price Match, and I have no problem with those being verified.
My concern is the attitude I received. The first time, the interaction was so uncomfortable that another employee ended up assisting me. On that occasion, I noticed the employee was outside before helping me and, although I do not know whether that had anything to do with it, I perceived an unfriendly attitude from the beginning of the Price Match process.
Unfortunately, during this second visit I was assisted by the same employee again, and the experience was almost identical: a dismissive, unfriendly attitude that made me feel as though I was doing something wrong by requesting a service that the store itself offers.
I am not suggesting this is personal. However, after having two very similar experiences with the same employee, I believe there is an issue with how these requests are being handled. I was also surprised to find other reviews mentioning negative experiences related to the same employee's attitude.
What stands out the most is that I have visited this store on different days and at different times, which means I have interacted with several members of the staff. Every other employee has been friendly, efficient, professional, ..
Today my sister picked her daughter, our mother and myself up from Carleton place and drove all the way down to barrhaven to Tokyo smoke because the day before she had went there for the first time they made her an account and she said service was great so she returned hoping to see the same staff and be welcomed with the same service but instead the welcome was not very pleasant, very angry staff, & my sister was told the people in her car need to come inside and show Id, meaning our 48 year old mother who doesn't smoke, a toddler and an 18 year old sister who also doesn't smoke all need to come in and Id them selves in order for her to buy something, what kind of racism is this, my sister does look young but she's married and has kid, showed id and was still questioned about the people in the vehicle she retuned to tell my mom and me this and was angry because she couldn't understand why they were acting the way they were, will be returning to speak to manager
Terrible inventory, I don' know if they need new companies to get their weed from, but it doesn't matter if it's an eight or an ounce, $25 -$100, on sale or not, the bud is lacking quality. I once bought 7 pack for $80 of wer that was supposed to be gas, when I got home and opened the pack I didn't smell anything. The weed was dry and brittle crumbling just from touching it, I threw the whole $80 pack away the same day. Gotta do better with inventory especially with the prices they have.

I've been a repeat customer at the Chapman Mills location in Barrhaven for a long time, but after my experience on March 28, I won't be returning.
I spent over $80 and was sold pre-rolled joints that were packaged on November 8, 2025 — more than five months old. I didn't notice the packaging date at the time of purchase, and only realized after opening them and trying one later that night. They had no aroma and tasted terrible — clearly not a fresh or properly maintained product.
The next morning, I went back to the store to request an exchange, and it was refused. That's unacceptable. Customers shouldn't have to double-check packaging dates every time they make a purchase just to avoid getting stale product.
If you're shopping here, I strongly recommend checking the packaging dates before buying anything. Based on my experience, product freshness and customer service are not being prioritized.
Very disappointing.
I've been a customer at the Marketplace TS location for a couple years, and specifically recall a consistent great experience shopping with the help of specifically Nadine, Mike, and Sophie. Nadine has been there all the years I've been a customer and she's super friendly and above and beyond customer service 👌 some of the reviews I've seen indicate the customers attitude was the problem, not the service 😅….
