I've been coming to Spiritleaf Stittsville almost every week for the past two years and have always had a great experience. The staff have generally been friendly, helpful, and happy to suggest products based on what I'm looking for. That's one of the reasons I kept coming back.
Unfortunately, my most recent visit was completely different.
I came to the store with a friend and was asked for ID by the employee in the vestibule. That's completely fair and I understand it's the law. Unfortunately, I had left my wallet at home, so I asked whether I could show proof online since I'm a regular customer. He said no, which I accepted.
I then told my friend to go inside and buy the product while I stayed outside. The employee was right there when I told my friend exactly which product I wanted. A few moments later, I remembered another product I wanted and thought I would ask whether my customer account with the store could help verify who I am. I stepped in and simply asked, "Bro, I have an account here, would that help?"
Before I could even have a conversation, the employee aggressively told me to get out. I tried to explain that I was only asking a question, but he started repeatedly yelling "Get out! Get out!" while still talking on the phone. I honestly felt shocked and embarrassed. I wasn't arguing, causing a disturbance, or refusing to leave. I was just asking a question.
What upset me wasn't being denied entry because I didn't have my ID. I fully respect that po ..
