Went with my dad today to visit the shop, and took my dog with me. Staff repeatedly approached to ask for my ID, and left after i said i wasnt shopping & did not bring any with me. The third employee kicked me out, and was very nice to explain why. while telling me i needed to leave, they offered treats for my dog, which felt incredibly rude.
If im not allowed in the store at all without ID, then staff should not be trying to continue to interact with my dog. Repeatedly petting him (without asking or talking to me first) and trying to engage with him, while im being told I am not allowed to be there, seemed far from appropriate
I wish staff asked me for ID, and then asked me to wait outside or by the entry while they ask another employee or manager for help if they were unsure. It felt like the employees wanted to say hi to my dog, and were treating me differently as a result. I am a autistic adult, and very lucky to have parents who take me out to have a bit of a safety blanket with new experiences. This one really shot my confidence, and made me feel like i wasnt welcome.
