I stopped into Rainbow to grab a few of those little $2 silicone containers to keep some stuff separated. The girl grabbed a handful from behind the counter and I noticed the red one I wanted was sitting right there, so I asked, "Can I get the red one instead?"
She looked at me and said, "You get what you get."
Now, maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I was under the impression that the person handing over the money usually gets some say in what they're buying.
So I asked again, "Well, I'm the one paying for it. Can I not get the colour I want?"
Another "You get what you get."
Eventually she said, "I'll do it for you this time."
This time.
Like she'd just approved an exception to a long-standing international treaty instead of reaching six inches to the left for a different $2 silicone container.
There wasn't another customer in the store. Nobody waiting. No lineup. No crisis unfolding. Just a strange commitment to making the simplest retail transaction slightly more difficult than it needed to be.
I got the red one. She got to keep her policy. Everybody won. But I won't go back

The worst service I've ever had in my life. Im from out of town and wanted to send my sister a little birthday treat so I placed an order. Then I had called to check when that order was over 2 hours late. I just wanted an estimated eta. I understand it's a busy time of year. I was greeted with the rudest salesperson I've ever spoken to. I will NEVER shop here again.
If you don't do price matching, then you don't have the best prices in town.
